There was also a DDD diner in Cedar Springs, Rosie’s Diner, but it had gone belly up between the time of planning our trip and getting there.
We were staying at the Lakeside Camp Park which has its own little lake. Most sites were taken by weekend campers, but there was a fair amount of transient (like ourselves) traffic. We were able to go for nice long walks around the lake with Robbie and Abby.
Grand Rapids, the Gerald Ford Museum
Gerald Ford had a difficult presidency, as explained in a number of the displays. He took over the helm of an extremely divided country that needed healing. He knew the only way to start that process was to put Watergate behind and that by pardoning Nixon, he would probably never get elected on his own. For many years, I could not forgive Ford and felt that Nixon needed to be brought to justice, but I was wrong and Ford was right and he paid the price for his brave actions in order to get the country whole again.
