Well, here we were again at Camp Horizons. Although there are no DDD places in Junction City, we were looking forward to dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, Senior Tequila Mexican Grill, and that was our first stop on arriving.
During our stay, we went for a side trip to Abilene Kansas to visit the Eisenhower Museum and Library. It was truly an awe inspiring experience, getting a better understanding of the era and what the man accomplished as president. You can see all of our pictures of the Eisenhower home and the grounds on our 2012 Kansas Smugmug Gallery.
Next door to Junction City, is Manhattan, the Little Apple, which is the home of the Big Red 1, stationed at Fort Riley, which explains the constant air traffic of Black Hawks, Apache, and Chinook helicopters over the area. At the fort, there is the Cavalry Museum and Custer House. We didn’t get a chance to go this time, but as we will be going through here again in September, maybe then.
