IMG_1853IMG_1862We took an afternoon to drive down the hill (that’s a 2500 foot descent down the mountain) to the Garden of the Gods, have lunch and walk around. The scenery is quite outstanding. From the visitor’s center, Cathedral Rock lines up perfectly with Pikes Peak. We trekked up the 1 mile path to the Siamese Twins, which was breath taking in more ways than one, only a 150 foot rise, but still lots of climbing. As stupid novices, we forgot to bring the water with us on the trek and were quite thirsty when we got back to the truck. IMG_1869For the truly fanatical photographer, if you get down on your stomach and lay down on the side of a rock, so you can get a picture of Pikes Peak, peaking through the window of the twins.
