Once the rally ended, we had to hot foot it south to get to Livingston TX and the Escapee CARE Center for our month long sentence of ‘indentured servitude’. We stayed a couple of nights in Eagleville MO and a couple more in Joplin. The RV park in Eagleville was a fairly small park, about ½ a mile from I35, so it was nice and quiet. The town itself is very small with about 4 truck stops clustered around the interchange.
Joplin of course is a much larger area, with grocery shopping and a Tractor Supply, Robbie’s favorite store. The KOA in Joplin has a catfish and turtle pond, and also a larger duck pond. You can get food from the office to feed the wildlife, so they are very accustomed to humans. As you walk along the pond, the ducks follow you, waiting to be fed. This mother was not at all concerned as I very slowing approached to within a couple of feet. I think she was more concerned about the catfish in the pond than of me. Just before arriving at Joplin, we pulled into a truck stop for a bathroom and lunch break. A couple of dragon boats were filling up.
