When we took delivery of our rig back in 2011, I had video’d the two day orientation walkthrough. Over the next 18 months, I had created a number of topic specific vignettes for New Horizons that were posted to their YouTube channel. New Horizons wanted to create a number of videos to provide information to new owners and help ease the load on the maintenance department help line. So a visit to Junction City Kansas was in order. It turned out (as it always does) that the ‘little project’ was not so little. I managed to write scripts for 10-12 topics, however the little project was interrupted by a kidney stone that took several days to pass and left me in a drug induced haze for most of a week. That work continues, albeit slowly, until we get back to Mission.

We also had the chance to meet Lynn and Ed in person. We had been corresponding over several months as they were deciding on buying a Majestic and then something to tow it with. They arrived with their new truck and a U-haul trailer to take possession of their new home. I had flashbacks to 2011 and our arrival at New Horizons, towing a U-haul trailer.

Mexico in Junction CityIMG_3552 Anne and Roy were also there, getting some work done. While there, Anne jumped a plane to Dubai to help her new granddaughter break in her new mother. Before she left, we celebrated, at of course, a Mexican restaurant, and while Anne was gone, we helped Ed and Lynn keep Roy out of trouble. Here we are outside of a restaurant in Abilene, Roy, us and Lynn/Ed.

One of the sad spots during our stay was learning of the death of an RVing friend, Marnin, down in Florida. A totally unexpected accident that took his life.

Before getting to Junction City, while surfing the web for current Greyhound Hall of Fame information, I came across a notice about a greyhound rally at the hall of fame, that was scheduled during our visit to the area. We decided it would be a nice event to attend. There was an RV park just down the street from the hall of fame, so we moved the rig 20 miles down the road to Abilene, in order to attend the rally, ‘Prancing with the Stars 2014’. The rally was being hosted by the GPA of Eastern Michigan.

Prancing with the Stars 2014

IMG_3516IMG_3549Talk about organized mayhem, 10-15 greyhounds in the same room, all lining up to smell each other's butts. What was interesting though, not a growl or snarl to be heard. We had a great time, some interesting speakers and tours. There are quite a few training and breeding farms in the area. Robbie met his doppelgänger , Atomic; from Massachusetts, plus a little lady who liked to walk under her bigger brothers. We also had a chance to do a bit more site seeing in Abilene.
